Position Overview :
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Server Administrator to join our IT team. The
Server Administrator will play a pivotal role in managing and maintaining our server infrastructure,
ensuring its optimal performance, security, and reliability. This position involves a diverse range of
responsibilities, from server monitoring and user management to security enhancement and technical
support.
Key Responsibilities :
- V-Center and VM Server Utilization Monitoring
✓ Monitor and manage virtualization infrastructure using tools like V-Center to ensure optimal
resource utilization, performance, and availability of virtual machines.
✓ Proactively identify and address any performance bottlenecks or issues in the virtual
environment. - Storage Utilization Monitoring
✓ Monitor storage systems to track utilization, anticipate capacity needs, and optimize storage
resources.
✓ Collaborate with storage teams to ensure efficient data management and availability. - Active Directory Maintenance and User Creation
✓ Maintain and manage Active Directory services, including user and group management,
access controls, and security policies.
✓ Create and manage user accounts, permissions, and group memberships. - Cloud Backup Schedule Monitoring
✓ Oversee and monitor cloud backup schedules, ensuring timely and accurate data backups.
✓ Collaborate with backup administrators to verify successful backups and address any issues. - Cross Checking Cloud Backup Reports
✓ Regularly review and cross-check cloud backup reports against departmental data to ensure
data integrity.
✓ Take corrective actions in case of any discrepancies or failed backups. - Technical Support (PRI & NEC)
✓ Provide technical support for PRI and NEC systems, diagnosing and resolving hardware and
software issues.
✓ Liaise with vendor support to achieve timely problem resolution. - Folder Rights Assignment and Disk Quota
✓ Administer folder rights and permissions, ensuring data security and access controls.
✓ Implement and manage disk quotas to optimize storage usage. - Support Ticket Management
✓ Manage support tickets from various departments, providing prompt and effective
resolutions.
✓ Maintain detailed records of incidents, resolutions, and user communication. - Onsite and Remote Support
✓ Deliver technical support both onsite and remotely to address hardware and software issues
promptly.
✓ Provide hands-on assistance with installations, upgrades, and maintenance tasks. - Security Management
✓ Implement and maintain security measures, including firewalls, antivirus software, and
intrusion detection systems.
✓ Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments. - Patch Management and Updates
✓ Monitor and apply software updates, patches, and security fixes to servers.
✓ Ensure systems are up-to-date and protected against known vulnerabilities - Performance Optimization
✓ Analyse server performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement
optimization strategies.
✓ Fine-tune configurations for optimal resource utilization. - Disaster Recovery Planning
✓ Assist in the development and maintenance of disaster recovery plans and procedures.
✓ Perform backup tests and contribute to ensuring data integrity and availability during
emergencies. - Capacity Planning
✓ Forecast server resource requirements based on growth projections and business needs.
✓ Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure scalability and efficient resource allocation. - Documentation and Reporting
✓ Maintain accurate documentation of server configurations, processes, and procedures.
✓ Generate regular reports on server performance, incidents, and maintenance activities. - Server Hardware Management
✓ Install, configure, and maintain server hardware components.
✓ Coordinate with vendors for hardware repairs and replacements. - Server Virtualization Management
✓ Manage virtual machine deployments, provisioning, and optimization.
✓ Ensure proper resource allocation and performance within virtualized environments. - Scripting and Automation
✓ Develop and maintain scripts for automating routine server tasks and maintenance activities.
✓ Streamline processes for improved efficiency and reduced manual intervention. - Training and Knowledge Sharing
✓ Provide training to junior team members and share expertise through workshops and
documentation.
✓ Promote knowledge sharing within the team and across departments.
Qualifications
- Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or
equivalent experience). - Proven experience as a Server Administrator or similar role.
- Strong understanding of virtualization technologies, including V-Center and VMware.
- Proficiency in storage systems, backup solutions, and Active Directory management.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities with teams and vendors.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle diverse responsibilities.
